Ready for work
Appearing presentable at work after a commute - especially during warmer months - is a concern for many considering bicycle commuting.
Here are some tips:
- If your trip is short or you can ride at a relaxed pace, you may be able to just ride in your work clothes (an ankle strap will keep your pant leg out of the chain).
- If you need to change clothing, you can either leave clothes at work or carry them with you.
- Your employer may have shower and locker facilities available or a room where you can privately change clothes and clean up. If not, you may be able to find facilities nearby (in the same building, for instance).

Bike parking at
the State Fair
If you’re bicycling to the Minnesota State Fair (Aug. 27 through Sept. 7), park your bicycle for free in three secure lots at the Fairgrounds from 6 a.m. to midnight daily.
You can also pedal for part of the way and take transit the rest. Free bike racks are available on trains, Metro Transit State Fair Express buses and regular bus routes that serve the Fairgrounds. More details are available here.
While you're at the Fair, visit us in the transportation section of the Eco Experience exhibit to learn more about bicycling and other environmentally friendly transportation choices.

Bicycling plus transit:
A popular option
Thirty Bike2Benefits members from throughout
the metro area won $25 gift certificates at Market Bar-B-Que for taking at least one bike plus transit trip in June.
Members logged more than 500 trips that combined bicycling and riding the bus or train throughout the month.
The option of combining bicycling and transit is more popular than ever. Counts conducted in May 2009 showed that more than 750 bicycles were loaded per day on Metro Transit buses and about 90 percent of light-rail trips had at least one bicycle on board. |
