METRO TRANSIT TO EXTEND SERVICE
ON BUS ROUTE 722 IN BROOKLYN CENTER

MINNEAPOLIS – (Feb. 13) – To improve access to jobs in Brooklyn Center, Metro Transit will extend some of its Route 722 trips to Earle Brown Drive seven days a week beginning Saturday, March 7.

The extension will link Earle Brown Tower, including the TCF Bank call center, with Brooklyn Center Transit Center at which connections are available to routes 5, 19, 22, 717, 721, 723, 724, 761, 762 and 801.

Route 722, operated jointly by Metro Transit and First Transit, travels between 69th Avenue North and Brooklyn Center Transit Center on weekdays and weekends. Some weekday trips also travel to 83rd Avenue North.

As part of the extended service, seven northbound and seven southbound trips on weekdays will travel on Earle Brown Drive. Two northbound and two southbound trips will serve this area on Saturdays, along with one northbound and one southbound trip on Sundays.

The extended service is a demonstration project, lasting until March 2010.

The cash fare for Route 722 is $2.25 during weekday rush hours and $1.75 at all other times. For trip planning services, customers can speak with a transit expert at 612-373-3333 or use the online trip planner at metrotransit.org.

Metro Transit is a service of the Metropolitan Council. In 2008, customers boarded its buses and trains nearly 82 million times, the highest annual ridership in 27 years.
