Let's work together to keep flu from spreading
Metro Transit is operating its normal service schedule. We are meeting regularly with state health and emergency preparedness officials, who will update us of any increased threat to public health. Check back for updated information.
Public transportation is as safe as any other public area. To minimize the spread of flu, follow these recommendations:
-
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or a sleeve when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
-
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
-
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
-
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
-
Practice other good health habits. Keep yourself strong – and more resistant to disease – by getting plenty of sleep, staying physically active, managing stress, drinking plenty of fluids and eating nutritious food.
-
Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
-
If you get sick, consider staying home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
