Get ready for faster express
service in downtown Minneapolis

Beginning Dec. 14, about 60 express bus routes will travel on the reconstructed Marquette and 2nd avenues in downtown Minneapolis.

Improvements on these streets mean that your trips will be faster and your transit experience easier and more comfortable. Buses will be able to pass each other in a second bus-only lane, saving several minutes in travel time per trip.

New schedules for the first phase of route changes will be available at metrotransit.org on Nov. 28 and on buses on Dec. 5.

Getting ready:

  • Each bus will stop every other block, not every block like today. Stops will be organized by a letter system. Just board and get off at the bus stops marked with your route’s letter.
  • Visit metrotransit.org/Marq2 to find out where your route will stop on the new corridor. See your route schedule for other stops in downtown.
  • When you hop on your bus leaving downtown, you can board through all available doors – you’ll pay your fare when you get off the bus at your destination. Get a Go-To Card for a faster, easier way to pay your fares!
  • NexTrip real-time information signs will display the estimated departure times for buses approaching your bus stop. NexTrip times also can be played by audio message at each bus stop.
  • Among the enhancements you’ll see are nearly 30 new bus shelters with on-demand heating.
  • Buses traveling in the passing lane will never pick up customers. Board buses only when they are at bus stops.
  • As always, arrive at your stop at least five minutes before your bus is scheduled to leave.
